Waco
We explore the little-known history of Waco, Texas. Located between Dallas and Austin, this city is more than just a halfway point. Waco began as the home of the Waco Indians, and was attractive to early settlers for its lush farming lands along the Brazos River. The community thrived with stately colonial plantations until the Civil War plummeted it into an economic struggle. That soon changed as Waco became the halfway point of the Chisolm Trail. Soon, the bustling waypoint became known as "Six Shooter Alley", attracting a bolstering entertainment and commerce center for businessmen, cowpokes, gypsies and thieves.
