  • A schoolteacher from Luckenback built and flew a powered airplane 43 years before the Wright Brothers.   (Sounds like a song, Willie!)
  • When built, Waco had the longest bridge in the US...and the second longest bridge in the world?
  • The Alamo at one time was "the local grocery store?"
Texas has a rich and fascinating history. With so much ground to cover, its no wonder that we often miss what's in our own back yard. Our programs encourage folks to get out and discover Texas. Each journey explores the history, the stories and the current riches to be found at each stop. Every show is designed to highlight activities that can be experienced in a day or two. Travelin' Light showcases spur-of-the-moment getaways that take little planning or money. In addition, we challenge viewers to experience, and be a part of, history.
